The House of the Duc d'Aumale

Located within the château walls, the former house of the Duc d'Aumale, long the residence of the sub-prefects, was restored by the Department to create the new visitor centre and gift shop, which opened in September 2020.

More functional, welcoming and brighter, with a total surface area of 170 m², the new visitor centre includes a gift shop, a seating area, disabled restrooms and an interpretive area. The interpretive space is dedicated to the presentation of the Château and its origins, featuring a video on the historical, geographical and geopolitical context of the construction of the Château de Châteaubriant.
