Egypt of the Pharaohs

From 12 June to 29 November 2015

Presentation

The Musée Dobrée is continuing its series of off-site archaeological exhibitions at the Château de Châteaubriant. This exhibition, featuring over a hundred artefacts – including mummies and sarcophagi – from the Dobrée Collections, in addition to a number of pieces on loan from the Louvre, invites you to discover Ancient Egyptian civilization.

The exhibition retraces the history of Egyptologist Frédéric Cailliaud, whom the Musée Dobrée has to thank for a large part of its collections. It also depicts what everyday life was like at the time of the pharaohs and delves into the mysterious world of Ancient Egyptian gods and funeral rites.
