The podcast "La maîtresse, les bijoux et François 1er"

Listen to the first podcast of Grand Patrimoine de Loire-Atlantique, a production tailor made for the Château de Châteaubriant!

"La maîtresse, les bijoux et François 1er" is a musical story imagined by the Ensemble Boréades and created at the initiative of Grand Patrimoine de Loire-Atlantique.

This four-act series takes us back to the 1520s, in the midst of the Renaissance, to meet a woman who left her mark on the history of the Château de Châteaubriant and, more importantly, on the history of the reign of François I. Françoise de Foix, extremely alluring and cultivated, attracted the attention of the king. Although she was married to Jean de Laval, Lord of Châteaubriant, she followed François I to the Court and became his mistress. But the 10 years during which she enjoyed the exclusive attentions of the sovereign, however, left her with a bitter taste. Heroine and muse, like Cleopatra or Dido, Françoise de Foix inspired many authors who built her into a legend, but it was a legend she did not identify with. Determined to re-establish her truth, she speaks out at the invitation of Jeanne and Maximin, both of whom are highly skilled at calling forth the ghosts of departed souls... Will songs and viola da gamba convince Françoise de Foix to appear before us?

For the exhibit, experts used 3D digitization to create an application showcasing this exceptional object. Discover the steps involved in the project and the online application. You can watch the different stages of manufacturing of this golden masterpiece, and you’ll be able to virtually manipulate the reliquary in 3D in its original state and its current condition.
