Loire-Atlantique, Land of Treasures

22 May to 3 October 2021

Presentation

For the second year in a row, the Musée Dobrée displays the treasure trove of coins discovered in the department over the past century and a half. Free admission, reservations required.

This amazing archaeological heritage reveals the history of the department from the Gauls to the beginning of the 20th century, including its trade relations and its political and military situation. Upwards of three thousand coins, unearthed in some forty towns across the Loire-Atlantique region, are presented and described.

This exhibit also shines a spotlight on the archaeologists, restorers and numismatists who study and explain these treasure troves.
